Terms & Conditions

Review policies for registration, withdrawal, refunds, and program cancellation for Michigan State University Professional and Continuing Education courses and programs. Please review this information carefully before registering. Policies may differ based on program type, delivery format, and the timing of a withdrawal request.

Withdrawal and Requesting a Refund

All withdrawal and refund requests must be submitted in writing. Please contact the unit identified on your registration receipt sent via email. Prompt written notice is strongly encouraged — timely communication gives our team the best opportunity to work with you and explore available options.

The following terms apply based on when the written request is received:

  • 30 or more business days for residential programs
  • 15 or more business days before the program start date — Participants have the ability to drop a course within the registration system. Refund honored in full, less any applicable administrative or processing fees noted on the program registration page.
  • Fewer than 15 business days before the program start date — Requests are limited to extenuating circumstances and may be subject to a late withdrawal fee of 10% of the registration fee. Please reach out as early as possible to coordinate with the offering program unit or department to review your request.
  • On or after the program start date / No-shows — No refund will be issued. If a registered participant does not attend and does not notify us in advance, the full program fee will be charged.

Program-type considerations:

  • Fully online self-paced programs — Refund requests submitted after course or platform access has been granted are subject to the late withdrawal fee, regardless of whether coursework has been started.
  • Hybrid programs — Refund policies apply to the program as a whole. Partial refunds for individual components (online or in-person) are not available.

Program Cancellation

MSU’s Professional and Continuing Education courses and programs reserves the right to cancel or reschedule programs due to insufficient enrollment or unforeseen events.

  • If a program is canceled, registered participants will be notified at least one business day prior to the start date and will receive a full refund of the registration fee.
  • If a program is rescheduled, participants will be contacted to confirm availability for the new dates. If a participant is no longer able to attend, a full refund will be provided.

The University is not responsible for non-refundable travel, hotel, or other expenses incurred by registrants.

Note: The above policies are not applicable to Eventbrite events.
