Drops and Refunds

Please read the following information carefully before submitting a request. MSU’s Professional and Continuing Education provides participants with fair opportunities to adjust enrollment commitments. Your options are outlined below.

Your options:

Drop a Course — Drop from a course or program and receive a refund, subject to the program timelines and fees.

Transfer — Move your registration to another open section of the program within the eligible transfer window.

Withdraw — Discontinue participation after the refund deadline. No refund is available for withdrawals on or after the program start date.

How do I drop a course?

  • Log in using your email address and password.
  • On the left menu, select My Registration History.
  • Find the course you would like to drop from under My Current Programs.
  • If your course offering is eligible to drop, select Drop Request under the Actions and Status column.
  • To view the drop deadline date, click on the blue circle adjacent to the course information.
  • If the deadline has passed, please reach out to the department listed on your receipt sent via email.

What is the refund process?

Refunds will be processed upon completion of the drop request in the self-service learner portal or by approval of a written request after the deadline. Refunds will be returned to the credit card used for registration. 

All drop requests after the deadline must be submitted in writing. Please contact the unit identified on your registration receipt sent via email. Prompt written notice is strongly encouraged — timely communication gives our team the best opportunity to work with you.
